After a very busy summer but with a lot of BMX practice, last weekend I managed to attend an international BMX Flatland contest in Lyon, France... The Com' in Lyon was a worthy event not only because it was very well organized with top level participants from many different countries but also as it was the final competition of the french BMX Flatland league of 2016. France is a very beautiful country and Lyon has many memorable sightseeings and beautiful surroundings that make it a very interesting destination... The whole cultural and educational level of this city is so high that you can notice it in the air... Furthermore, the people there were awesome... Romain, Kevin, Remy from Paris and many others were very friendly and made me feel like home not only at the contest area but in Lyon in general! The contest floor was perfect for me as it was wood, the material on which I practice everyday at my indoor homespot in Ioannina, Greece! The whole organization of the event was also outstanding! I managed to go to the finals 11th and I was very pleased with it as the level of the other professional riders was top! After the qualifications we partied at a boat club in the river, downtown Lyon! So good times... The next day were the finals and I am very happy about my run! I managed in these three minutes of pressure to pull my combos flawless without any touch on the ground! Moreover, I pulled first try my best trick which was something very recently learnt and that made my day! I finished 6th and that is my best placing in professioanl category so far! In the whole journey, my beloved sister Anna supported me a lot and gave me motivation and power to do my best ... So,I would like to dedicate my run of the finals to her who is my biggest fun and makes me very proud! Also, I could not forget to mention specially Sakis Doumas and George Kikos, the other two greek riders and very good friends of mine, who made it to the finals as well! Their runs had a few touches but they managed to pull very hardcore, original and stylish tricks! It was the first time that 3 Greeks made it to the finals of an international competition in professional category and that is something very encouraging! Greece has many talents that remain to be revealed... We were together with Sakis and George in all this and I want to pay my respect to them not only as riders but also as human beings because everytime we meet we have a great time! The links of my runs and some photos of the whole experience follow below:
